With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.
Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.
In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.
The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.
I was lucky enough to meet Helena in Toronto, we chatted, she was lovely and I bought the paperback. I did something I never do and read my signed paperback. SHOCK–HORROR. I know!!
But it felt oh so good in my hands.
I don’t normally go for hockey players or baseball or any kind of young/new adult reading but I’d heard so many reports about this so I had to see what the hype was about.
The title alone is simple, yet pure genius.
It’s an easy fun read with likeable characters. Hot fun sex that made me smile. Because the reality being, sex is normally funny and not always the love fest that we imagine in our own private fictional worlds. The banter throughout kept me invested, but at times I found certain things a little repetitive, which led to me skimming, but only slightly. This was a very long book of it’s kind, so for me to read this in a matter of two days tells you it’s very definitely worth reading.
I took it everywhere with me as I was enjoying the feel good factor it gave me. I love a book that makes me laugh, even my most favourite dark reads tend to have some underlying humour.
Finding a book that gives you back your reading mojo is a pretty special accomplishment. Pucked definitely did this for me. Thank you Helena.
