✰Desolate✰ by Ker Dukey- Review
I was a son,
Eighteen years of being in a psyche ward; I was released into the world. Things have changed, Blake is married to Melody and is a father to my new fixation, Cereus. My beautiful niece who knows nothing of my existence. When consequences of past sins begin playing tricks on me, old cravings demand to be satisfied.
There is no cure for my kind of sickness.
I am void of everything but obsession.
I can’t love,
I can’t feel,
I am Desolate.
Real life has taken over and I’m struggling to read quickly these days therefore it’s taken a while to read Desolate. In a not so busy life I would have blasted my way through this book possibly in one day. Normally if I can’t read as often as possible I tend to disconnect from a book but I have to say wholeheartedly that this certainly was not the case with Desolate.
Every time I picked it up I was living in Ryan’s world. I’m struggling with why I like this guy, I need to have a word with myself. I’m just so confused as to why I have a soft spot for him. How the hell can I have a soft spot for a sadistic and self loving psychopath? But I do!! Aggggggh.
Ker Dukey brainwashes me with her crazy characters and I have to say I love her for it. I’m not going to mention the plot, I fear for spoilers so I’ll talk about the feelings I had whilst reading.
Revolt – Certain scenes definitely revolted me and were quite cringeworthy – Sadistic sex, mind f***ing torture. Mind games. I was kept highly entertained.
Happy – I chuckled along at the inner dialogue going on in Ryan’s head, he was just such a crazy loveable freak of nature. Thank you – I loved it!
Connection – I really connected with the characters and I would love to see more of the dark side to Cereus – Yes give her a book of her own Ms Dukey. I’m sure you can mess with her head and take her to the dark side. Ryan would be proud!!
Sad – I didn’t want it to end!
I loved the format, the different POVs worked well again as in book one. It was romantic, thrilling, torturous and cringeworthy. If you like dark and mysterious then I highly recommend it.
I really can’t believe how this author keeps writing so well? Her work is just astounding. The plots she comes up with never fail and I can’t wait to get my hands on anything she writes.
MY REVIEW OF EMPATHY#1➜http://bit.ly/18o2QaC
Summary: I can't believe I still like Ryan! Shoot me now!
